I'm just surprised we don't get prevented from leaving an outpost while solo....

"You cannot leave the outpost because the world is too dangerous for solo adventurers"

"You cannot enter this mission because you have not formed a party"

"You must return to town because all of your party members have left"

.... wouldn't surprise me.

That's wonderful, but Guild Wars isn't one of those MMORPGs, and isn't designed to be.

Basicly I see GW programmers are doing a really great job in creating a fantastic atmospheric game environment. At the other hand the game devellopers hardly seem to know the basics of an RPG based game. Sure they know about PvP, the BW background is prominent there. Also they learned about the mistakes in D2. But they never were a DM in a paper and pen table rpg.

A DM knows that his players like to be rewareded. He also knows that when he gives away a super sword it will cause balancing problems in the next game sessions... And an experienced player is perfectly aware of the fact that his well deserved sword sooner or later will be consumed by the rust monster

The lesson is easy: Give players what they like, even if it is by playing solo. but let the items be temporary. Those are rpg basics... It urges to continue playing endlessly to find those things you like, and even if there is that one and only ruling sword, the game wont be out of balance: because it will get broken once. It only needs such a little change of policy to make everybody happy

What i d say...
Anet kills the PvE part of their product now that it is launched...
No more economy, trade, farming, nothing to do...
They dont seem to care, since most of PvE players will play more pvp from now on ..
Thats how u kill PvE easily..removing all concept of Rarity

Look at the trades now... GREEN...GREEN ... GREEN
U can get rid of all white, blue and purple items and almost every rares

You could do this before anyway, so whats your point? Most things couldn't be sold in any worthwhile amount of time, so it hasn't changed at all.

gee, I guess its perfectly natural to solo the hardest part of the games, where you are supposed to have 8 people.

Quite frankly, I don't see in any way, how people can say that UW soloing has been nerfed. I strongly agree that it has simply been beefed up.

Yes, I too, was also a bit crestfallen when I went to the UW after the September 7th update, and found the addition of Dying Nightmares that would strip enchantments (using the skill 'Rend Enchantments'.) But honestly, can you call that a nerf? It only took me several trips to the UW and about 5 platinum to work out a strategy. And that's all it took me...with no changing of the skills I previously used.

Anyway, it is still entirely possible to solo the UW. Really, I'm just shocked at people who say stuff like "UW solo has been nerfed!!!!ANet is ruining our gaming experience!!!" only because they are too lazy to think about a new set of skills that would allow them to continue soloing UW. (bah, people get into a routine...get accustomed to certain things...don't like changes, and when change happens, they whine...)

So in all honesty, if you're not up to the challenge of trying to whip out a new set of skills. i don't know what to say. UW and areas around Sorrow's Furnace/Deldrimor War Camp are very much soloable. Although I do have a different set of skills when I want to solo the areas around SF and Deldrimor War Camp. (Yes, despite how impossible it may seem, it IS possible to solo those areas.)

On a sidenote, I've noticed that the people in Deldrimor War Camp generally have nasty attitudes when they find out you're a 105 or 55 build. They instantly say "dude don't tell me you're a 55 build lol. that stuff doesn't work out here...KICK" Likewise, it seems as though solo monks have lost respect in ToA as well, as people believe the UW to be impossible to solo and think that 55 or 105 monks are useless. (has anyone else noticed this?) Well, I guess the only way people will start to respect the 55 and/or 105 monk builds again, in both ToA and Deldrimor War Camp, will be if people see proof that it is [still] possible to solo UW/SF. perhaps a video? Yes?

Well, that's just my opinion. I'd love to hear what you guys think on the subject.

I just owned UW. until my comp crashed. But still, its possible =)

edit: solo monk, i mean

edit 2: and i dont care about the respect that 55 monks used to have. screw them, they wont get my monk for healing on the other stuff. oh yeah, with a few tricks you can knock that health down a bit more.

Quit whining.
"multi-player" means that the same gameworld is inhabited by many players at the same time

"online" means that the game is played on a remote server and not on your personal PC

So from where exactly do you guys deduce that it's totally unthinkable to play solo in an online MMORPG world??? All you guys do is project your personal preference of playing the game on others and say "because I want to play the game this way, everyone has". Which is pathetic.

Underworld is not unsoloable. This argument is invalid. The challenge has risen significantly, and will accomodate those who supposedly played solo for the enjoyment of it. It's entirely possible... try taking a swing at one of the new creatures. They have about 100 hp...

And it's always more fun to bring a friend along. If you guys are looking for efficiency then yes, it was lessened. But true soloers don't solo strictly for money income over time

solo, schmolo.
as far as i can tell the uw drops have been nerfed for the uw solo monk.
i mean, uw drops have always been rather poor lately (don't even want to talk about clearing the spawning pools and getting 1 glob drop for the party), but now incredibly they may have gotten even worse.
soloing the smites - if you're lucky, 1 glob, & some blah purple item and no shiverpeaks chest.
2 man (solo w/ nuker) doing smites - 1 glob for the run
8 man (full exp party) doing 3 quests and smites - 1 glob entire run, lol it was sad
(btw, except for the solo cases, none of the above globs dropped for me)

now i haven't done enough runs to say whether you consistently get 1 glob per run always, or whether after 5 runs i might get 3-4 globs, but it seems very much like the drops are nil. i've talked to several other solo monks and they say they receive only 1 glob per run if they're lucky. sadly, the new nightmares drop better than the aaxtes.

i don't know if it's random, but it seems like the nightmares are more likely to spawn immediately when bulls are aggro'd when you're solo versus when you're in a party of 2+ they spawn after the bulls are dead.

i'm also pretty impressed by how cleverly the devs and artists placed the new nightmares to make them look like lagging coldfires on the radar. i had always used to ignore those sudden red pops from colds not being where they were supposed to be lol.

in any case, call me a masochist, but i like soloing uw almost as much as i like healing for pugs. it's the challenge that drives me hehe. but if my experience is common for uw farmers than i'd say that anet has effectively killed the motivation for uw glob farming.

Indeed, it's still possible.
I tried it yesterday for the first time ever and it worked pretty well.

What I would like Anet to implement is the drops balance system. Some guys in team got all rares and the rest stick with white crap. How far is that ? Also the drops in group must be better than solo. Other than that I dont really care bout solo or group party.

But I really have to say this, as a healing / prot monk in Europe I never gotten past Chaos plane with PuG (most likely some retards take all the quest from first reaper despite other ppl shouting out not to take any quest). I want to explorer UW (if solo is possible then I definitely will) regardless drops. I think that ppl who created solo build / be able to do it should be rewarded with the ability to solo for a price of less drops.

Fissure armor is not a requirement, it's a luxury.

New solo build? Comes out?

Oh! What you mean is "I hope someone discovers and posts an update-beating solo monk build so I can copy it and farm UW once again".

Sorry to disappoint, but considering the heavy nerfing on the 105 monks, and the UW in general, I don't think anyone developing any monk builds to tackle the update are likely to post their builds up any time soon.

Also, why wait for someone else to do all the hard work for you? Why not just take a good look at your skills, and try to use your head to come up with something?

Anyway, it's not like UW is no longer soloable. You can still do it even with the "Latest 1337 cookie-cutter build" - It just takes a little more skill than piling into a few ataxes with Prot bond and Aura of Balthazar - So easy even I can do that!

Or better yet, and this might seem like a really odd suggestion....how about...going in with a team! I know. It really sounds absurd and crazy, but you might actually have a bit more fun than just going solo just for a sniff at an ecto.
